Artist Book | E-book
The original book of Einstein's Dreams is a novel by Alan Lightman in 1992. Throughout this novel, many of the characters become stuck in time. Each dream envisions a different world, with time behaving in a different way. The stories explore the relationships between people and time, an essential part of the human condition.
I choose this book to redesign it for a more artistic and interactive way, and try to lead readers to deeper into these stories by "play" and "turning" pages by pages. Additionally redesign the digital version of E-book by using the same concept.
So you will see the differences by using different medias, also have fun with them.
Original Book Design
The new cover uses carved black cardboard to present the feeling of night. From those cutting windows, viewers can see the subtitles in different ways: some of them is very clearly, some of them can see a part of them, to present the feeling of dreams.
The binding way to separate the content in 2 different ways: The right side is simply stitched; the left side is folding-paper stitched on propose.
To separate the 2 kinds of chapters: 2 is talking about Parallel Space; 3 of them is about 3 dimensional about times and dreams.
